When Young Fu arrives with his mother in bustling 1920's Chungking, all he has seen of the world is the rural farming village where he has grown up. He finds himself in the midst of a changing China. Through his many adventures, Young Fu finds his heart and soul being pulled in three directions: 1- toward the superstitions of the ancient Chinese idols; 2 - toward the ideas of the ancient Chinese philosophers; and, 3 - toward the love and compassion of the Christian missionaries. This is more than just a story about a young boy. This is a story about the heart of China!
